My name is Ian Bird and I am the PE teacher at Everton Park State School. I provide PE lessons for all students from Prep to Year 6.
I have 20 years experience teaching PE. I am very passionate and strive for all students to enjoy and succeed in this diverse subject. My approach is to encourage and help students in a friendly and positive manner so they get the most out of each lesson.
I am a Level 3 Advanced Throws coach in Athletics, have been a Met North Athletics Coach for 15 years and a QLD Athletics coach for 8 years. I have been a North District Touch Coach for 5 years and a North District Tennis Manager for 4 years. I hold my current Austswim coaching qualification and have taught swimming for 8 years and have current qualifications in both First Aid and CPR. I was a life saver at Kings Beach Caloundra for 5 years, swimming has been a huge part of my life. I am a Level 2 Qualified Triathlon coach and have been coaching for 5 years. I have competed in Triathlons for 8 years, including 4 Noosa Triathlons and a Mooloolaba triathlon. I have also competed in 8 Bribie Tri series races and 8 Gatorade Tri series. Keeping fit and healthy is very important to me. I coach our school Triathlon Squad every Friday afternoon.
I will be implementing many great programs across all year levels in 2020.
Term 1
Prep: fitness activities, grades1-6: swimming - stroke development.
Term 2
All grades: athletics.
Term 3
Grades prep-3: modified games, grades 4-6: touch football and soccer.
Term 4
All grades: swimming - grades prep-4: stroke development, grades 5 & 6: life saving skills.
