In 2007, the Everton Park State School (EPSS) Cheerleading team consisted of 20 girls and 2 coaches, who with no previous experience, decided to try something new.
Currently EPSS Cheerleading consists of two cheerleading teams with 50+ students. The teams include the EPSS Sharks, our competing team, the Reserves, students from Prep to Grade 6.
Our squad team creates two routines (Cheer and Pom) and perform at several competitions throughout the year. Pom focuses on choreographed dance moves using pom poms, while Cheer involves stunts, lifts, formations and tricks.
The Reserve team learns their own routines, developing their skills, while focusing on fun and exercise. They perform at the school fete every two years.
Our Cheer team has seen much success over the years, starting with Encouragement Awards, through to winning a variety of placings (1st-4th) at different Regional, State and National competitions. The most recent wins included:
1st place in Stunting at Cheercon Nationals Championships,
1st place at AASCF Spring Carnival for Cheer and Pom
2nd place in Stunting at the AASCF National Qualifier competition.
With the focus on fun and fitness, we finish every rehearsal and competition with our final cry –
E.P.S.S – EP Cheer squad is the best!
