Year 4 STEM Excursion

On Wednesday 14 September, Year 4s classes joined the STEM teaching team at Everton Park SHS to be immersed in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities. The big buzz about STEM is usually robotics and coding, but ultimately this program is designed to build student capacity in critical and creative thinking, as well as collaboration and communication skills considered essential for future careers. Students rotated through four 1 hour activities, including DJing music with electronic Launch pads, block coding with Ozobots on iPads, engineering spaghetti structures, investigating the Science of teabag and film canister rockets, as well as creating 3D graphic images of Lego blocks capable of being 3D printed for inclusion in any Lego build. The Everton Park SHS team would like to thank Mrs Elizabeth Teirnan for her assistance in organisation, the Year 4 students for their engagement and their teachers for their support, as well as the EPSHS STEM team and student helpers for their sessions.
